Note from the Artist: I was in pretty deep with my butterfly relationship at this point and not ready to give it up. So I got the bright idea to double the size of "Flutter" (Already quite a large painting) and change up the complimentary colors. I wanted to go BIG with this image. I generally only paint one painting a year of this size. Why? Because once I complete it I need to spend a year forgetting how difficult it is, ha! The large size creates its own unique set of yet more technical/mechanical issues that requires yet more creative solving. I could compare it to marathon, you start strong and by the time you are finished you are proud but damn glad to be done. It's a 12 course meal. It's a long term but satisfying relationship that maybe you are just a little happy to walk away from... Both these images are fanciful, but this piece is perhaps a little more so. I love the concept of the "Butterfly Effect". One small act can ripple over time in ways that are powerful and positive. Like most people I can pinpoint moments in my past where someone said or did something that changed the course of my life for the better. Butterflies are also transformative, and this was on my mind as well during the creation of these pieces.
