Note from the Artist: This is perhaps my favorite painting I've done this summer. Fireflies exist but are not common in Montana although I have seen them many times in other locales.I do love an imagination challenge, and this was a fun image to craft in my head. I needed a foil for the dots of light and added rich dark blue flowers- this color really popped. The painting feels a little surreal and somewhat magical, hence the title. The fireflies themselves were tricky and required lots of trial and error tests to get the right vibe. I had to paint, blot, paint, blot to get my desired effect. Very happy with this piece.
