Note from the Artist: I was at a friends house recently and there were several very large ponderosa on her property. Massive trees. I got to thinking about the age of one tree in particular. What was the world like when it was small? This was the inspiration for this painting. My fascination with butterflies and the element of movement and playfulness they bring to a scene continues. I think I will look back at this as "the summer of the butterfly". Have there always been so many flying about or am I just seeing them in a new way? In any case, this piece feels like time. Both ancient and new, brief and long lasting.
