Artist Bio
My creative instincts started early while growing up in my parents' art studio, where they published greeting cards and art prints. Paper, paints, and numerous other fun materials were always available to me, so making stuff just seemed like a natural thing to do. My father taught me, "If you want something truly unique, create it yourself."
I have always enjoyed presenting traditional themes and ideas in unique and distinctive ways, using a a variety of materials to accomplish my creative goals... wood, metal. paper, glass, fabrics, leather, resins, stone, and anything else that adds to the creative experience. Formal and informal art training, travels around the world, plus a few years in the Navy gave me an appreciation for life and the beauty that is found around us.
Eventually I joined the family business as a partner, creative director and production manager. I enjoyed designing many of the products and unique production equipment and methods that contributed to our success and popularity with customers and stores throughout the United States. It was a very enlightening and rewarding experience.
The fortunate opportunity then came about to open my own studio where I could explore new creative ideas and projects. Most of my work is sculptural wall art, with the emphasis on texture and dimension. Over the years I have produced various series of limited editions, open editions, one-of-a-kind originals, plus numerous commissioned designs for commercial clients and collectors.
Dragonflies have recently become my primary creative focus. In real life dragonflies are fascinating, and the symbolism, "Live life to the fullest, is inspiring. Each of my dichroic glass and stainless steel dragonflies is a joy to create, and reflects my appreciation for all the beautiful things in nature.
