Moon Lily Mobiles by Jan Carson
Jan earned her MFA in fibers at Colorado State University. Her aerial sculptures and textile wall art are in the collections of Kaiser Permanente, Centura Health, Park Nicollet, and Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital, among others. As the artist-owner of Moon-Lily Mobiles, Inc. since 1999, Jan has built a global reputation for her production line of silk leaf mobiles. Her site-specific installations, “Flowering Almond Tree Mobiles” and “Tree Mobiles in Four Seasons,” were both finalists in the 2013 Collaboration of Design + Art (CoDA) Award worldwide competition. Her textile artworks have earned Creative Innovation and Best of Show awards in juried exhibitions. In 2018, she won Grand Prize in the Arrow Five Years Out Art Challenge in Denver for her innovative pairing of textile art and LED light.
Born in Oklahoma, and after 25+ years in northern Colorado, Jan now lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her education also includes a BA in Art and Bachelor of University Studies from Oklahoma State University, and a student printmaking internship with Universal Limited Art Editions in New York.
